Epidemiology data presented by some of my favorite researchers from the University of Wisconsin: the doctors Klein, et al, was published in the January 2011 Archives of Ophthalmology.  The data suggests that the prevalence of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) dropped from 9.4% of the US population to 6.5% of the US population between 1988 and 2008.
